I’ve owned four of these models for at least three years now – one at work, one in each of our two kids’ rooms and one in the master bedroom.

Pros:

I like the features and controls on this unit. I’ve had no problem setting the alarm (waking to either the radio, CD or buzzer), changing CD play mode (repeat, shuffle), setting the clock (including a nice, one-button daylight savings time setting), even without the manual. We use the unit as our morning alarm every weekday with no problems.

There’s a generous number of radio pre-sets – 10 FM and 5 AM.

The snooze button is nice and big.

I like the inclusion of weather radio bands, but note that the TV audio bands won’t work anymore with the switch to digital TV signals last year.

Cons:

There’s been some reliability issues – one unit completely died about a week ago – no power when plugged in. The one at work stopped playing CDs about two years ago.

Three stars overall – start with four, with one taken away for reliability issues.

I’ve owned this CD player/Clock Radio for two year. It has survived several moves, been dropped a dozen times and still comes back for more. I can’t complain about the quality. The price was a little high but it fits nicely in my office. Perhaps the only problem is programming. Don’t lose the owners manual, as I did, or you will have trouble programming the CD player. It once went nuts and kept looping. Without the manual, it took me an hour of playing around to get it to stop looping. The radio is not as good as the Sony clock radio I bought 4 years earlier. The speaker quality, though is excellent.

It plays all modern modes, up to about 2006. I can’t speak for later modes. In fact, I recorded something recently and it failed. Read the fine print on the model you purchase and even bring along a disc so you can be sure that it will play. It may play but only allow you to play the whole disc without skipping through tracks. I have had no problem so far but who can tell.

The only question you really want answered here is: “Would I buy this product again?” Yes!

This is one of the more attractive little cd/clock/radios, and it has a very nice sound for this type of product. It has many great features that all work well (see manuf. desc), and now that we have had it for a year, I feel safe saying it is durable and great Sony quality. One feature missing is battery back-up, which might be important for those requiring a fail-proof alarm in the morning even if the power goes out overnight. If that is not a requirement for you, I’d highly recommend this version of the Dream Machine.

This 2 alarm radio doesn’t take up much space, has lots of good features and I use them all — alarms for radio, buzzer, and CD, nap, sleep, TV audio, weather station, etc. The two things that would make it perfect are: 1) external speaker jacks – the sound is acceptable but not great; 2) ablility to have “sleep” music at a lower volume than “wake” music. I need lots of sound to wake up, but want quiet music to go to sleep.
